About Aristata Press

Established in 2020, Aristata Press is a woman-owned press dedicated to bringing compelling stories to life. We founded Aristata Press to share stories that matter by authors that otherwise would not have access to traditional or self-publishing. Our first published author, Megan Brown McClard, was 95 years old when we released her book, LEAVINGS: Memoir of a 1920s Hollywood Love Child, on October 31, 2022. We look forward to publishing more of her fiction, poetry, and children’s literature.

Our Publications and Achievements

Since our inception, Aristata Press has published five additional books and plans to release three to four more titles in 2024, with many more in the pipeline. In 2023, three of our four published books received significant recognition:

  • Raising Owen: a memoir of extra-ordinary motherhood by Suzanne Lezotte won the Independent Press Book Award in the non-fiction “Parenting and Family” category.
  • Women Caught in the Crossfire: One Woman’s Quest for Peace in South Sudan by Abuk Makuac and Susan Clark received a Nautilus Award in the “Heroic Journeys” category.
  • Butterfly Dreams, a novel by Anne McClard, was a finalist in the Foreword INDIES competition in the “Literary Fiction” category.
